New affordable creative work space available now
We have a single studio space of approx. 16 square metres, available from 1 June 2026. The studio has 24/7 access and costs £82.80pcm. Joining our studio community involves helping with the day to day running of the building and joining in the charity’s activities for public benefit.
Open Hand Open Space (OHOS) currently provides ten artists studios, operates a public art gallery/project space and enjoys the support of a diverse community of associate artists and trustees.
The available studio is on the first floor of our studio building at 571 Oxford Road, Reading. All OHOS studios are in a shared building and include circulation space, which other artists can pass through to access their own spaces. Brock Keep is a publicly owned building and as such is occasionally open for visitors and open studio events.

What should my studio application contain?
- A letter of application outlining your experience as an artist and your motivation for joining our studios.
- CV
- Information about your art practice, including artist statement, link to your website, social media or a portfolio of recent work.
Your application should tell us how you match what we are looking for:
- An enquiring, professional art practice that wishes to engage critically in the contemporary art field.
- Commitment to contributing to the running of OHOS, attending meetings, work parties and other activities.
- Commitment to collaboration and willingness to share your skills and knowledge with the other members, in order to develop your own practice and build up OHOS as an inclusive and engaging art community
- Able to make good use of the studio - making a case in your application for why you need this particular space at this point in your career.
- Compliance with the terms and conditions for members and studio holders.
- Based in Reading, or having strong connections with the town.
